CURE-ME – Characterizing AUtoimmuneREsponses and Defining Targets in ME/CFS
The collaborative project CURE-ME (Characterizing AUtoimmuneREsponses and Defining Targets in ME/CFS), jointly conducted by the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH), Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Technical University of Munich (TUM), investigates the pathomechanisms of post-infectious ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, exercise intolerance) in order to identify biomarkers for an early and more precise diagnosis and to develop innovative therapeutic approaches. The research focuses on the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), which is regarded as a potential trigger of ME/CFS through dysregulation of autoreactive T and B cells.
