Epidemiology and Health Services Research

To what risk is the individual patient exposed due to the disease itself and to the treatment? How safe are modern therapies? How well are patients with rheumatic diseaeses cared for in Germany?

The main goal of the programme area “Epidemiology” is to improve the care and quality of life of children and adults suffering from rheumatism. Large and long-term epidemiological studies lay the groundwork. They are conducted in close cooperation with about 500 pediatric and adult rheumatologists throughout Germany.
