Diversity Day at the DRFZ

In the spirit of UNESCO’s “World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development”, we celebrated our diversity at the DRFZ on May 23, 2024.

Our institute is actually already quite diverse: almost 30% of our employees come from abroad, from a total of 37 nations worldwide. People of different cultures and religions feel welcome at the DRFZ.  We have a female Administrative Director, 36% of our group leaders are female, 54% of our postdocs, 59% of our doctoral students, 64% of our students and 79% of our assistants.  All of these are good reasons to delve deeper into the topic of diversity.

We learned a lot about diversity, privilege and inclusion from our speaker, Zarahlena F. Yrizar. After an enthusiastic discussion, there were plenty of delicacies at the international buffet, which our colleagues had prepared, and exciting conversations playing diversity bingo.

In the future, we want to meet once a month to further improve the inclusion of diversity at the DRFZ.
