Pregnancy in women with systemic lupus erythematosus

Pregnancy in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is associated with an increased risk of maternal and paediatric complications. However, there is little data on the reality of care in Germany and on complication rates in these patients.

The primary aim of the study is to investigate the incidence of pregnancy complications in women with SLE who did not consult a rheumatologist or who did so irregularly before and during pregnancy compared with women who had regular contact with a rheumatologist. The secondary aim is to analyse medication and specialist care.

Two different data sources will be analysed in parallel: prospectively collected data from the multicentre Rhekiss pregnancy cohort (cohort data) and routine data from the BARMER health insurance company (claims data). In the sense of participatory research, two research partners of the German Rheumatism League are involved
